Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), today, hosted stakeholders in the transportation industry to mark its 20th anniversary.
The event was attended by representatives of the Lagos state government, the private sector, and the crème de la cream of professionals in the transport industry to x-ray activities of the agency in the last 20 years and chart a course into the future.
Speaking at the event themed “LAMATA yesterday, today and tomorrow, the Honorable Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi commended LAMATA for its commitment to delivering sustainable, integrated transportation to Lagosians.
The event also featured a panel session where the panelists discussed the key presentation by the Director Center for Multimodal transportation (UNILAG) Professor Iyiola Oni entitled LAMATA, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The panelists included Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, former Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, former World Bank Transport Economist, Dr George Banjo, Dean, School of Transport, Lagos State University, Prof Charles Asenime, General Manager LASWA, Mr Damilola Emmanuel, General Manager, Lagos State Parking Authority, LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, Senior Transport Specialist at the World Bank Fatima Arryo, Ademola Ogubanjo VP Oando Clean Energy Limited.
Mr Ogubanjo in his intervention reiterated Oando’s commitment to its partnership with LAMATA, highlighting the successful testing phase of the electric vehicle rollout. He confirmed that 50 electric buses for the pilot phase will be operational early in 2024, to solidify OCEL’s commitment to clean and sustainable transportation in Lagos.
