Minister of Labour and employment receive the NASU Fellowship Award, bestowed upon him by the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions. recognizing his positive relationship with the Nigerian labor movement and their organization.
During the 8th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference in Abuja, Comrade Peters Adeyemi presented the award to the minister of Labour and employment highlighting his achievements as the Governor of Plateau State, addressing worker grievances.
He also commended the minister for the he fresh impetus he brought into government -labor relations as the Minister of Labour and Employment, facilitating the resolution of labor challenges.
The minister of Labour and employment on his part expressed humility of being part of history, emphasizing the importance of partnership in building harmonious industrial relations. Acknowledging NASU’s mature approach to dialogue, he encouraged sustaining this determination for the benefit of Nigeria’s academic calendar.
The minister also shared updates on President Tinubu’s initiatives, including addressing educational system instability, the Student Loan Scheme, and the National Minimum Wage Review Committee. The Director General of the Nigerian Institute for Labour Studies, Comrade Issa Aremu, congratulated the minister of Labour and employment on the well-deserved award, urging NASU members to strengthen their participation in the NLC. Other awardees included Professor Garba Sharubutu from the Nigeria Agricultural Research Council, and there were goodwill messages from the DG NIPSS during an interactive meeting at the Senate on the 2024 appropriation.
