Governor of Balyesa signed the Appropriation Bill for 2024 into law

Governor of Balyesa signed the Appropriation Bill for 2024 of N489,443,632,374 (Four Hundred and Eighty-Nine Billion, Four Hundred and Forty-Three Million, Six Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Seventy-Four Naira) only into Law.This figure represents an increase of N8,450,000,000.00 Billion from the earlier N480,993,632,369.00 presented to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

In line with the 2024 Appropriation Law, titled, “Budget of Sustainable and Shared Prosperity”, he said his government will prioritise key sectors aimed at improving the state infrastructure, expanding access to mass education with an emphasis on technical and vocational manpower development, enhanced healthcare services, promote agriculture as a means of creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty.In the 2024 budget, while the government has made provision for the continuation and completion of ongoing projects in the state, the government will also be constructing a new and modern Stadium, an ultra-modern Renal Centre at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, and an Administrative Block for the Primary Health Care Board.

The Governor today signed into law the Bayelsa State Electricity Bill, 2023, which will open up the state for investments in electricity generation.He also directed that the issuance of licences to private investors should be made very seamless for as many that would be willing to tap into the huge gas potential in different parts of Bayelsa State for power generation.

He also appreciated the Speaker, The Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and other members of the Assembly for their diligent actions in the passage of the two bills for his assent.
