The minister of housing and urban development received a delegation from Shelter Africa Development Bank (ShafDB) led by the Bank’s Board Chairman, Dr. Chii Akporji, and MD/CEO, Mr. Thierno-Habib Hann, who whereon a one-week working mission.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development and the Chairman of the Bank’s 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) Bureau, the minister led the delegation to meet His Excellency, the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima, GCON, and top government officials to discuss ways of improved collaboration between the Bank and Nigeria.
The meeting include the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
During the visits was discussed the ShafDB’s evolution into a world-class development Bank, its innovative housing product portfolio to developers, housing agencies, state governments, and other players in the housing industry, the Pulako initiative, Nigeria’s outstanding share capital subscription, and other possible ways of improved relationship for increased participation of government and private organizations in their funding programs towards housing and urban development in Nigeria.
The minister extended his profound appreciation to the Vice President for creating time out of a very busy schedule to meet the stakeholders and his kind words of encouragement.
He also sincerely thanked the Minister of Finance and the CBN Governor for their expressed commitment to the payment of Nigeria’s outstanding share capital subscription and for continued support to the Bank for enhanced financial inclusion and housing and urban development in Nigeria and Continental Africa.
The minister also appreciated the Minister of Foreign Affairs for his assurance of driving the process towards Nigeria’s ratification of ShafDB’s revised Company Statutes.
As the second highest shareholder in SHAFDB, Nigeria remains committed to its growth as part of a continental push to fix Africa’s housing challenge.
The Minister also express his commitment to driving necessary engagements to enable Nigeria to play its role.
ShafDB is a key partner to the Ministry and a source of sustainable housing finance necessary for the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.
