As part of efforts aimed at alleviating poverty, creating job opportunities as well as curbing insecurity in the country, the Federal Government is set to launch the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (P-BAT) Cares E-Commerce Portal and other initiatives for the economic empowerment of Nigerians, especially women and the vulnerable on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye made the disclosure Monday, during a Press Briefing on the Official Unveiling of the P-BAT Cares for Women E-Market Portal Held in her office, in AbujaShe stated that majority of the crimes and criminalities being witnessed in the country is traceable to poverty and it is in recognition of this fact that the present administration is working assiduously towards empowering the Women with entrepreneurial skills and tools to enable more homes feel the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Government, through wealth creation.
Women make up a large portion of the population of this country, therefore empowering them for economic relevance will have tremendous effect in our homes and society at large and this will bring about a major turn around in the growth and development of the nation*, the Minister said While stating further that other initiatives like the Governors Forum-approved- Mobile Court, National Women Helpline, Naija Save Nigeria Integrity-Transparency Brigade and the National Broadcast Channel will among others, be launched that day, Barrister Kennedy-Ohanenye called on women to support the policy objectives of the Administration as it will not only improve their sources of livelihood but also promote gender equality in the Country
