In an act synonymous with Legislative-Executive cohesion, the Niger State House of Assembly earlier today held a Special Session in honor of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, where they unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on his administration. This is the first time such an act has been performed by any House of Assembly in Niger State.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the member representing Tafa Local Government, Hon. Mohammed Idris, and seconded by the member representing Bida 2, Engr. Haruna Mohammed Dokodza.
The Session, chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda, was convened specially to spotlight, highlight, and commend the administration of Governor Bago, especially in the areas of Agricultural revolution and mechanization, urban renewal projects, rural intervention programs, amongst others.
The House particularly praised the Governor’s vision and foresight in leveraging Niger State’s abundant potential in Agriculture by focusing and attracting key investment opportunities that will drive the growth of the State.
The Members, led by the Speaker of the House, Hon. Abdullmalik Sarkin Daji, took turns making their submissions. They also praised Bago’s intervention in providing lasting solutions to the state’s infrastructural needs, grants, wage awards, and other social interventions to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the people.
The Governor was also praised for the massive urban renewal projects across the State, especially within and around the capital city of Minna, with all the major roads currently undergoing reconstruction and dualization.
Other points of commendation sighted include the remodeling of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport Minna, the 3 Arms Zone project, the Bida Ring Road, the recently announced plans to revive and create a new Rail System within the State and one that connects to Abuja, the conversion of the old Shiroro Hotel into IBBUL Teaching Hospital, the procurement of 1000 tractors and other farm implements, the ongoing construction of 556km spread across 17 LGAs in the state, amongst other projects.
The event is a testament to the harmonious working relationship between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government in Niger State under the administration of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, even as it further underscores the need for continued collaboration towards establishing the State as a beacon of growth and development in the country.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Com. Yakubu Garba, the SSG, Alh. Abubakar Usman, the Head of Service, Engr. Abubakar Salisu, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi, all state executive council members, Special Advisers, Director Generals, and key government officials.
