The one-day advocacy workshop on Disasters and Emergency Response in Cross River State is aimed at addressing critical issues surrounding disaster preparedness, response and recovery. The workshop was facilitated by State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)It was flagged off by His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Cross River State Rt. Hon. Peter Odey.The workshop had presentations such as Overview of Current Disaster Management Framework in Cross River State by Mr Vincent Aqua, Disasters & Emergency Preparedness: Government & International Partners Perspectives by Engr. Olu Andah and The Roles & Responsibilities of MDAs & Security Organisations in Ensuring a Collaborative Strategies for Disaster Management & Emergency Response by Prof. Emman Eyo (Coordinator NEWMAP CRS).
All Participants, including MDAs and Security Organizations in Cross River State, engaged in interactive discussions,review of case studies and practical exercises to enhance their understanding of disaster resilience strategies tailored to the unique challenges faced in Cross River State. Key outcomes of the workshop included the development of action plans, and collaboration frameworks.
