SANGO OTTA POLICE DIVISION REFUSAL TO ARREST SUSPECTS OF BATTERY AND STEALING ON MR ADEWALE EMMANUEL

Illegal arrest and detention of Adewale Sunday by Sango otta police division without proper investigation by the IPO Aremu odunola and her refusal to investigate and Arrest suspects for battery and stealing on Mr Adewale Emmanuel despite video evidence at the scene of the crime.

On Sunday March 31st Mr Adewale Sunday was arrested by a policeman from Elere police division without a formal statement at the Sango otta police division claiming his wife was assaulted and shop vandalized with things stolen. He carried out this action of forceful arrest threatening Mr Adewale Sunday in his home with neighbours with a pistol making comments that he would shoot them, after this forceful arrest he took took Mr Adewale Sunday to Sango otta Police division where Mr Adewale Sunday was detained for 1 night, without the Sango otta police division conducting a detailed investigation on the case or visiting the scene of the incident or Interrogation of any witness the IPO Aremu Odunola was merely working on what the wife of the police officer from Elere police station told her. Clarion NewsChannel human rights help desk was contacted on Sunday afternoon by Mr Adewale Emmanuel on getting to the Sango otta police division our correspondence interviewed the IPO handling the case she claimed the Police officer wife was beaten, her shop vandalized and she also had a miscarriage that she was on admission at Faithlife hospital at Ogba Ayo Ifo local government.

Our correspondence later meet with the DPO of Sango otta police division through the advice of the Ogun State PPRO SP Omotola Odutola.

Mr Adewale Emmanuel was also interviewed by our correspondence who reliably informed our correspondence that the incident was an argument over a POS transaction which the Police officer wife apprentice who happens to be a hairdresser and owns a shop beside a woman running a small bar where they were sitted. The apprentice assisted the woman running the bar to collect some money from a nearby POS operator. which she later claimed was debited twice by 2 different pos Terminal. The POS operator was invited for clarification, when Mr Adewale Sunday tried to interview the POS operator the Police officer wife took it personally and it resulted in an argument which resulted in Mr Adewale Sunday been beaten up by 2 guys that owns a gas shop beside the Police officer wife shop tearing his clothes not satisfied she invited thugs to her shop but unfortunately they met Mr Adewale Emmanuel the peacemaker who had advised his brother to go home and leave the scene. The Police officer wife mother and the invited thugs descended on Mr Adewale Emmanuel beating him up removing his phone and other valuables on him.

Our correspondence debriefed the DPO and he advised we should visit the hospital alongside the IPO which we did, we meet the Police officer wife in the hospital with drips(2) been passed on her, on careful observation it was an empty drip plastics (2). Our correspondence requested to see the doctor a nurse (matron) was with our correspondence. Our correspondence on meeting with doctor engaged him wanting to know when the Police officer wife was admitted he claimed she was admitted on Saturday night.Our correspondence further engaged him based on eyewitness account that the Police officer wife was seen at the Police station on Sunday morning after the arrest and detention of Mr Adewale Sunday his defence was that he discharged her because the Police requested on seeing her at the station.More eyewitness account also claimed she was seen in her shop on Sunday morning and evening working only for her to be back in the hospital Sunday evening taking drip when our correspondence visited the hospital, The DPO refused to grant Mr Adewale Sunday bail his reasons was we should further observe the condition of the police officer wife in the hospital which we all agreed to and our correspondence also debriefed the Ogun State PPRO SP Omotola Odutola.

To our correspondence surprise by 12.30am April 1st 2024 he received a call from the Sango otta DPO asking him to come for the bail of Mr Adewale Sunday which our correspondence did on Monday evening and they asked our correspondence to come back on Wednesday with Mr Adewale Sunday which our correspondence did in person.

As of the time of filing this report the IPO Aremu odunola is yet to make any arrest of the suspects who unleashed battery on Mr Adewale Emmanuel despite video evidence (3) sent to the WhatsApp number of the DPO Sango otta police division . it imore than 4 weeks noting has been done. Our correspondence further stated on March 31st the IPO was reluctant to take Mr Adewale Emmanuel statement of battery but he insisted his statement should taken that night in the presence of the DCO Sango otta police division, Mr Adewale Emmanuel was also given a police report to go to Sango otta general hospital to threat himself which he did and the medical report has since been submitted to the IPO Aremu Odunola. On the last meeting with the DPO he gave clear instructions to the IPO that the suspect should be detained until she produce the thugs but she declined his instructions without the DPO knowledge in collaboration with the AO Sango otta police division.

The fundamental human rights abuse case of Mr Adewale Emmanuel has been taken up by our legal partners and proceedings filed in court as we would update the public on proceedings through our platform.
