The Kano Police Command cancels durbar celebrations during Eid-el-Kabir

The Kano Police have put a stop to durbar celebrations during Eid-el-Kabir due to ongoing disagreements within the emirate.

In preparation for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir festivities, the Kano State Police Command has put in place various security measures, one of which involves prohibiting all Durbar events across the state.

The Police, through State Police Command Spokesman Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, extend congratulations to Muslim faithful and law-abiding residents for celebrating another Eid-El-Kabir. They assure that sufficient security measures have been put in place to ensure peace and order throughout the festive period.

The police said, “This is part of the commitment to sustenance of the peace by the  Kano State Police Command in conjunction with all the relevant security stakeholders. In furtherance, a ban has been placed on ALL DURBAR activities throughout the State for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir celebrations. This measure is taken as a result of series security reports obtained and wide consultations made with relevant security stakeholders to ensure the safety of the larger community.”
