A double suicide attack has shaken Gwoza, Borno State, leaving many dead and injured according to a Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF.
A suicide bomber detonated explosives at a wedding ceremony in the Cross / Mararraba area, near the main market on Saturday afternoon at about 2:00 pm.
The bomber, an unidentified woman, killed herself, her child, and a number of wedding guests.
The exact number of casualties is unknown.
Sources put the figure at 12, from the first explosion alone.
Hours later, the second explosion struck mourners gathered for the burial of the first attack’s victims.
This blast also resulted in fatalities and injuries.
The wounded were transported to a medical facility.
The exact number of casualties is unknown.
Authorities believe the declining strength of the terrorist group has led them to target civilians in populated areas.
The Nigerian military previously warned of this tactic, urging citizens to stay vigilant in crowded places.
