Deputy speaker of the house of representatives has been inaugurated as a member of the ECOWAS Parliament at the first Ordinary Session of the Sixth Parliament at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Delivering the goodwill remarks shortly after, on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Ph.D., the Deputy speaker applauded the parliament for its immense contributions to strengthening representative democracy, promoting and defending human rights, upholding the rule of law, accountability, and good governance in the sub-region.
The Deputy speaker also highlighted the challenges confronting us as a region, which have placed greater responsibility on the ECOWAS Parliament to continue carrying out its legislative functions with increased vigor, passion, and commitment. With dedication, unity of purpose, partnership, and cooperation in it decisions and actions, so we can overcome these challenges.
The Deputy speaker also said the National Assembly remains committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through legislative measures that will provide a robust framework for Nigeria’s foreign policy, strengthen diplomatic relations, promote economic interests, enhance security, and promote regional and global peace.
