As the Clean Air Forum Lagos 2024, comes to a close today, Friday July 12, 2024, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu has reassured his administration’s commitment to sustainable environment especially, clean and quality air that will enhance healthy citizenry.
The governor who was speaking at the closing ceremony dinner of a – week long clean air forum held in Lagos between 8-12 July, 2024.
The governor who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab noted that air pollution has remained a major environmental problem in Africa , commending the organisers for giving Lagos State the hosting right of the year 2024 edition of the continental confetence.
The General Manager Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to implementing policies that will address the issue of air pollution and other climate change-related problems that may have a direct impact on the health of citizens.
The Clean Air Forum Lagos 2024, he stated has provided a platform for stakeholders to come together and share ideas on how to address the issue of air pollution in Africa.
The forum was attended by dignitaries including Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who represented the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as representatives of the Commissioner for Transport, LAWMA and Private Sector, development partners, government officials, Vice Chancellor UNlLAG, Professor Folashade Ogunsola, US Consulate General in Nigeria, Will Stevens and over 300 air quality stakeholders from 40 cities in 40 countries globally.
The Clean Air Forum Lagos 2024, organized by Air, Makerere University; AQMRG, University of Lagos in partnership with LASEPA, brought together stakeholders to discuss the pressing issue of air pollution in Africa and develop solutions to address it.
