MINISTRY HOLDS MEDIA PARLEY TO ENHANCE HEALTH REPORTAGE

The Permanent Secretary, Federal ministryhealth, Daju Kachollom S. mni, on Thursday convened a meeting with health correspondence to foster stronger collaboration with the media in disseminating accurate and timely health information to the public.

The event aimed to enhance understanding of the Ministry’s programs, policies, and initiatives, and to strengthen the partnership between the government and the media in promoting public health.
The parley provided a platform for open dialogue between the Ministry and media correspondence on critical health issues such as the cholera outbreak, maternal and child health among others. Participants discussed strategies for improving health reporting, addressing misinformation, and promoting health-seeking behaviors among the populace.

Daju, emphasised the crucial role of the media in shaping public opinion and influencing health-related behaviors. She highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and accountability, and expressed optimism about the potential of the media to contribute significantly to achieving national health goals.

Key areas of discussion included:
-The Ministry’s strategic 4-point agenda implementation
-Challenges faced in health reportage and strategies to overcome them.
-The role of the media in promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention
-Opportunities for collaboration on health campaigns and awareness programs

The president of the health correspondence, Joseph Kadiri,thanked the Permanent Secretary and the entire ministry for hosting the dialogue with pressmen. Adding that he looked forward to a more strengthened collaboration with the ministry and implementation of the strategies discussed.

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare expressesgratitude to the media for their consistent support in promoting public health messages and pledges to continue strengthening the partnership.
