On July 30, 2024, a bomb attack occurred along the Damboa highway. The incident was reported to NEMA after a distress call was received from BOSEMA, indicating a bomb explosion on the highway. The NEMA Emergency Response Team (ERT) was on standby and collaborated with other stakeholders to evacuate the victims of the explosion to the State Specialist Hospital. Unfortunately, one person died in transit. Additionally, an elderly casualty initially lost contact with his relatives, but was later identified through the efforts of the ERT.
The incident took place in a convoy of commercial vehicles traveling from Maiduguri to Damboa LGA when one of the vehicles triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) suspected to have been planted by the insurgents group
