Deputy Governor of Edo State mourns Archbishop Patrick Ebosele Ekpu, Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City

The Deputy Governor of Edo is deeply saddened by the passing of Archbishop Patrick Ebosele Ekpu, Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, whose sad event occurred on Tuesday at the age of 92 after a brief illness.

The Deputy Governor said on behalf of his amiable Wife, Comrade (Mrs.) Maryann Philip-Shaibu, and family, he offer his heartfelt condolence to the Ekpu’s family, the Priest, Religious Lay Faithful, the Catholic Community, particularly His Grace, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin, and all who knew him.

Archbishop Ekpu’s dedicated episcopal ministry and selfless service to God and His people will be greatly missed. His tireless efforts to spread the Gospel, promote Catholic education, and foster vocations have left an indelible mark on the Church in Benin and beyond.

As we bid farewell to this faithful servant of God, may his legacies continue to inspire and guide us. May Archbishop Ekpu’s life of Devotion, Compassion, and Wisdom be a shining example to us all. May his memory be a blessing to us, and may we strive to follow in his footsteps, serving the Lord and His people with humility and love.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
