Seizure of jets from the Presidential fleet Khama at work by professor Pat Utomi

Gov Amosun’s violation of contract terms signed by his predecessor has brought the shame of seizure of jets from the Presidential fleet. The whole matter is Khama at work proffessor Pat Utomi said narrating his ordeal with the Ogun State Government under former Governor Amosun administration.

The professor said the Chinese were not the only victims. One prominent Ogun indigene allegedly committed suicide with similar Amosun action. He was also a victim.

The professor said he had leased OPIC land in Lagos in a BOT agreement under former Gov Daniel. But former Governor Amosun stopped all such after sworn into office. The professor said he called former Governor Amosun personally. But the former governor said he did not see his name on the list.

The professor said he took the pain to go to Abeokuta to see the former governor in person who called in Yewande Amusan, who said mine was a straightforward deal they did not include it. The former governor asked that all be included, but mine be quickly sorted.

This was the beginning of a rigmarole that went on for years. This resulted in the professor making another trip to Abeokuta to see the former governor. The professor said the former governor drove him back to Lagos at the wheels with his own driver trailing along with the escorts and sirens. The former governor had earlier asked that the professor make a request for a refund of what was paid even though his South African partners and he had invested 200m in addition to the lease amount at the time.

With just the professor and the former governor in the car, he advised him to make a claim for 100m and write for additional payments the day after he cash the cheque.

It was so real, but if I got nothing more, it would be better than being in court until we both retire.

The professor said he took the case to APC leader BAT and Baba Akande, but no result.

He also took it to Governor Abiodun when he took over. Nothing came of it. If this happened to him, he wondered what enemies were going through. He eventually lost his weary SA partners who owned a successful regional chain across Southern Africa and Asia. The professor said he licked his wounds and also Slaved to pay off the loans.

The Chinese had better leverage. They took it, and all are shamed. The professor said in his new book Power Policy Politics and Performance documents a similar case study in Enugu involving SA investors as the gubernatorial batons changed hands. When shall we learn. Values shape human progress
