The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) concluded its governorship campaign in Edo State on Saturday with a stern warning against any attempt to destabilize Nigeria’s democracy.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council, assured the people of Edo that the party would ensure a credible electoral process in the September 21 election. He warned that PDP would not accept anything less and would not be
intimidated.
He said Edo is the cradle of civilization and intellectualism, adding that the needful must be done.
Acting the National Chairman of the party, Illiya Damagum vowed that the party will defend its votes and resist any attempt to rig the election.
He warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against announcing election results in the dead of night.
Former Presidential Candidate in the last election, Atiku Abubakar urged the electorate to vote, protect, and defend their votes to prevent tampering.
This comes amidst allegations of arrest and intimidation of PDP members in Edo ahead of the election.
