With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala), Jigawa State woke up with tragic news of a petrol tanker accident in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State. This incident, which has claimed 140 lives, is the greatest tragedy that has ever befallen our state Governor Umar Namadi said while on a condolence visit to affected victims of this disaster.
The Governor led the members of the Jigawa State executive council, leadership and members of the State assembly as well as thousands of Muslim faithful in performing the funeral prayers for the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this painful time. We stand with all those affected—those who have lost loved ones and those who are injured.
The Governor also have visited the injured at Federal Medical Center Birnin Kudu, General Hospital Hadejia and Federal Medical Center Nguru, Yobe State where he sympathize with the injured.
The Governor assured the public that the state government will cover the treatment costs for all those injured in the inferno, who are receiving care in hospitals across the state and beyond. We will also ensure that the affected families receive the necessary support to help them through this difficult time.
The Governor also urged everyone to always prioritize safety and avoid gathering at accident sites to prevent further loss of life. As his administration is committed to working towards preventing such tragedies in the future.
The Governor prayed to Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) to forgive the soul of the departed and heal the injured.
