Godwin Obaseki commission new office building for Nigerian Observer newspaper with three printing presses

With the establishment of the Nigerian Observer newspaper about 55 years ago, the vision of our founding fathers, including General Samuel Ogbemudia, led to the creation of one of Nigeria’s most advanced printing and media houses in the then Mid-Western State.

After decades of decline, Godwin Obaseki administration has revitalised this vision by commissioning a new office building for the newspaper and the Edo Printing Centre. The state’s newspaper has been rebranded and upgraded to meet global standards.

During the event, His Excellency, Governor Obaseki also honoured veteran journalists, including Tony Iredia, John Momoh, Nduka Obaigbena, Sunny Irabor, Nosa Igiebor, Frank Aigbogun, and Ebenezer Abiodun Aloba, a founding staff member of the Nigerian Observer. These renowned journalists were inducted into the Nigerian Observer Hall of Fame in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the nation’s media industry.

The new building, three printing presses, and the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub are all situated on what was once the dilapidated Nigerian Observer premises.

The commissioning of this edifice is a testament to the state progress as a people and a signpost of Godwin Obaseki administration vision to establish Edo State as a formidable media hub.
