n line with global best practices, NEMA has embarked on a nationwide assessment of the impacts of flooding across the states of the country.
As the country gradually emerge from the 2024 rainy season, the timely exercise is aimed at assessing the scale of disasters, evaluating the extent of damages, and harmonizing data with state governments and development partners.
In collaboration with State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMA), the Nigerian Red Cross Society and International Organization for Migration (IOM), 8 Local Government Areas of Anambra state and 54 communities of Bayelsa state have been recently assessed.
The insights and data collated from this exercise will guide government’s recovery interventions for the communities impacted by flooding and strengthen our preparedness and capacity to deliver on the mandates of our agency.
