Stakeholders discuss out-of-school children and poor performance of children at Nationwide training of LG Education Secretaries.

 

Mnister of State for Education today addressed the distinguished guests and trainees at the opening ceremony of the Nationwide training of Local Government Education Secretaries. Local Government Education Secretaries play a vital role in basic education delivery as the closest managers to schools, learners, parents, communities, and other stakeholders. The training program was aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and competence of the trainees.

In line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Federal Ministry of Education are analyzing the critical issues at every level in the education sector. At the primary level, the Ministry said it addressing two pressing challenges: a large number of out-of-school children and the poor performance of children. To address these issues, the Ministry is reviewing existing programs, enhancing teacher quality, improving the school environment, and ensuring effective school governance and supervision.

The Minister also commend the Universal Basic Education Commission for coming up with this initiative to strengthen the capacity of education managers at the local government level, and I urge the participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery.
