Minister of state for education mrs Suwaiba Ahmad joined the National Library of Nigeria to celebrate its 60th anniversary a remarkable milestone for this iconic institution. For six decades, the library has stood as the guardian of Nigeria’s intellectual heritage, empowering Nigerians through knowledge and playing a vital role in education, research, and culture.

As we celebrated this legacy, the minister emphasized the need for the library to evolve with the changing world. The library’s role has transformed from merely storing books to driving innovation, supporting the knowledge economy, and fostering creativity.
In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, we envisioned the National Library as a modern hub for education and research, accessible to all. The Minister commended the strides made in digital transformation, leveraging AI, virtual reality, and big data to expand access and enhance learning.

The Minister extended her gratitude to the National Librarian, the Board, and all partners for their meticulous effort. As we look to the future, the Federal Government is committed to supporting the National Library in its mission to empower Nigerians through knowledge, ensuring it remains a world class institution.
