Today, television crew from Lagos television, joined by Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi, Head of Corporate Communication at the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), was on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line to assess the impact of the service since the fare reduction.
The crew noticed the upsurge in passenger patronage of the Red Line, especially from Agbado.
Commuters overwhelmingly praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Government, and LAMATA for the project, recognizing its significant contribution to the city’s infrastructure.
Many passengers requested increased train frequency and more trains to better serve the growing demand.
In response, LAMATA’s Head of Corporate Communication highlighted the government’s commitment to mass transit, citing the ongoing Blue and Red Line operations and the upcoming Purple and Green Line projects. He also announced the imminent arrival of three new trains for the Blue Line, noting that those for the Red Line would arrive later.
The 30% fare reduction, announced by Governor Sanwo-Olu on February 18, 2025, has been positively received by the public.
