ABUJA – The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful extradition of fugitive suspect Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun from Ghana, in connection with the abduction and alleged murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Osun State.
The suspect, who had fled Nigeria following the incident, was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force by the Ghana Police Service in a coordinated operation in Accra on Thursday.
According to a statement from Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Ghana Police Service acted on credible intelligence that led to Fejemirokun’s arrest within their jurisdiction. Upon notification, the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja swiftly deployed a team to Accra to facilitate the formal handover and take the suspect into custody.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the Ghana Police Service for their “professionalism and cooperation” in the cross-border operation.
While commiserating with the bereaved family, the IGP assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring the case to a logical conclusion. “The Nigeria Police Force assures the public that it remains committed to protecting the lives of all Nigerians and apprehending offenders regardless of distance or borders,” the statement read, underscoring the Force’s dedication to strengthening international partnerships against transnational crimes.
