The colloquium, which kicked off today at 10:00 a.m., brings together senior government officials, renowned policy experts, private sector leaders, and distinguished personalities to deliberate on strategies for entrenching strong leadership, accountability, and results-based governance in Nigeria’s public service. The discussions align closely with the core values exemplified throughout Hadiza Bala Usman’s impactful career in public administration.
Born on January 2, 1976, Hadiza Bala Usman has served in pivotal roles, including as Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (2016–2021), where she drove significant reforms, and earlier as Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Governor. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed her as Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination in June 2023, a position she holds alongside heading the CRDCU, focused on driving delivery and accountability across government initiatives.
The event also serves as a platform to celebrate her life, contributions, and enduring influence as a trailblazer who has broken barriers, raised performance standards, and promoted transparency in public service. President Tinubu has previously lauded her “sterling achievements” and role as an inspiration to women, youth, and emerging leaders.
Vice President Shettima is expected to deliver remarks conveying President Tinubu’s goodwill to the celebrant while highlighting progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda. This includes ongoing reforms in governance, economic delivery, and public sector efficiency aimed at transforming Nigeria’s development trajectory.
The colloquium features a keynote address by public policy expert Dr. Joe Abah on the theme “Leadership, Delivery, and the Courage to Serve,” followed by a panel discussion on discipline and accountability in sustaining public sector performance. Notable panelists include tax expert Taiwo Oyedele, Rinsola Abiola, Dattijo, and Seun Okin.

Attendees include high-ranking officials such as Secretary to the Government of the Federation Sen. George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, ministers, and other dignitaries who have joined to honor Hadiza Bala Usman’s milestone and contribute to the governance discourse.
