IGP Appoints DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as New Ogun State Police PRO



The Ogun State Police Command has announced the appointment of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) following the recent transfer of Police Public Relations Officers of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

The appointment was made by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM. DSP Babaseyi takes over from CSP Omolola Odutola, anipr, who has been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for higher national assignments. CSP Odutola is credited with a legacy of professionalism, transparency, and human-friendly policing during her tenure as the Ogun State Command’s spokesperson.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi is a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University. He is a distinguished member of the 1st Regular Course of the Nigeria Police Academy, with a solid academic and professional grounding in police operations, investigations, administration, and strategic communication.

He has served in several operational, investigative, and administrative capacities across divisions and specialised units. His previous postings include Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, as well as Officer-in-Charge of Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts in Oyo State, where he led criminal investigations, supervised personnel, and coordinated crime prevention strategies.

DSP Babaseyi’s operational experience was further strengthened during a three-year deployment with the Police Mobile Force (22 PMF), where he served as Unit Commander. In 2023, he underwent training at the Nigeria Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi, and subsequently led personnel in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai across Yobe and Borno States.

In the area of police administration and public relations, DSP Babaseyi previously served as Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command and as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State. In these roles, he was actively involved in command management, strategic planning, inter-agency coordination, media relations, and information management. Until his current appointment, he distinguished himself in media relations and information management.
