Lagos Police Intensify Patrols Under Ojuelegba Bridge and National Stadium for Festive Season Security

Lagos, December 17, 2025 – As part of heightened security measures ahead of the yuletide celebrations, the Lagos State Police Command has deployed patrol teams to strategic locations across the metropolis, including under the Ojuelegba Bridge in Surulere and areas around the National Stadium.
These deployments are aimed at deterring criminal activities, ensuring public safety, and maintaining law and order during the festive period. Ojuelegba Bridge and the nearby National Stadium area are key transport hubs known for heavy traffic and high pedestrian movement, making them priority spots for visible policing.
The initiative follows a recent “Show of Force” exercise launched by the Lagos Police in collaboration with the Nigerian military (Operation MESA), Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, and other agencies. The operation, led by Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh, includes intensified patrols, security checks at schools, religious centers, business districts, and public gatherings to reassure residents and visitors.
CP Jimoh emphasized that the current low crime rate in the state is due to proactive measures, including ongoing raids on criminal hideouts. “We are committed to ensuring Lagosians enjoy a peaceful holiday season,” he stated.
Motorists and residents in Surulere have noted increased police presence under the Ojuelegba Bridge and near the stadium, describing it as a welcome step to curb potential incidents in these busy zones.
The Lagos Police Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through emergency lines.
