LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command has announced a significant blow against criminal networks operating in the state, revealing the recovery of ten stolen vehicles, a motorcycle, and a cache of illegal weapons during a strategic crackdown throughout November 2025.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, disclosed the operational breakthroughs in a press briefing on Tuesday, attributing the successes to “intelligence-led operations, targeted raids, and sustained surveillance.”

The month-long operation led to the arrest of several suspected armed robbers linked to a range of violent crimes, including conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, and assault.

“These achievements are a testament to our sustained November strategy aimed at dismantling criminal gangs, intercepting stolen property, removing illegal firearms from circulation, and strengthening public safety across Lagos State,” the Commissioner stated.

According to the Command, the recovered vehicles include high-value SUVs such as a White Range Rover, a Black Toyota Land Cruiser, and a Silver Lexus GX 460. The circumstances of their recovery paint a picture of diverse criminal tactics, from vehicles being snatched at gunpoint in inter-state operations spanning Edo, Ogun, and Lagos, to others being fraudulently obtained or intercepted for lacking valid customs documentation.

In addition to the vehicles, officers recovered six firearms, which included locally made pistols and cut-to-size guns. The haul of dangerous items also included a machete, a battle axe, an assault dagger, a set of Nigerian military camouflage, charms, and fake US currency with a face value of $4,000.

“The recovery of these weapons and materials significantly disrupts the capabilities of criminal groups and enhances the overall security landscape of the state,” the police briefing noted.

The Command confirmed that multiple suspects are in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Efforts are currently focused on identifying all accomplices linked to the armed robbery and kidnapping rings, establishing the interstate networks supporting vehicle-snatching operations, and tracing the origin of the recovered fake currency.

Authorities also emphasized they are working to strengthen oversight over car-hire services and informal transport arrangements, which they say are commonly exploited by criminals.
