NCAA Launches Intensive Indoctrination Training for Newly Recruited Flight Standards Group Officers

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has commenced a five-day intensive indoctrination training programme for the first batch of newly recruited officers into the Flight Standards Group (FSG).
The induction ceremony kicked off on January 12, 2026, at the NCAA Lagos Regional Office Annex Training Hall in Ikeja.
In his opening address, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, highlighted that the indoctrination programme—along with several in-house training initiatives conducted so far—demonstrates NCAA Management’s strong commitment to staff development and technical proficiency. He emphasized that the FSG directorates must be staffed with highly skilled and qualified professionals, as they form the technical backbone of the NCAA.
Capt. Najomo explained that the FSG Indoctrination is a mandatory programme designed to meet the requirements of Training Category One under the NCAA Inspector Training System (ITS). He urged participants to stay attentive, engage actively, and make the most of the opportunity to enhance their professional competence.
The Director, Airworthiness and Chairman of the FSG, Engr. Godwin Balang, delivered the welcome address. He expressed deep appreciation to Capt. Najomo for his consistent support and active participation in all indoctrination programmes, while assuring the group’s dedication to professionalism and excellence in fulfilling its regulatory responsibilities.
In her remarks, the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. (Mrs) Anastasia Gbem, stressed the immense responsibility of the NCAA as the sole regulator of civil aviation in Nigeria. She noted that the Authority has achieved significant milestones in recent years, thanks to the exemplary leadership of DGCA Capt. Chris Najomo.
The Flight Standards Group (FSG) comprises directorates within the NCAA that exercise joint safety oversight responsibilities. These include the Directorate of Airworthiness, Directorate of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Directorate of Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, and Directorate of Legal Services and Company Secretary (DLS&CS).
