The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday night carried out a surprise raid at Proxy Night Club, located in the upscale Victoria Island area of Lagos, in a continued effort to clamp down on the sale and use of illicit substances across nightlife venues in the city.

According to eyewitness reports, NDLEA operatives arrived at the club around 1:00 a.m. in several operational vehicles, blocking the main entrance and restricting movement while a thorough search was conducted inside the premises. Clubgoers were reportedly asked to remain seated as officers screened individuals for possible drug possession and consumption.

Sources within the agency revealed that the raid followed credible intelligence suggesting that the club had become a hotspot for drug-related activities involving young professionals and socialites. Several persons were allegedly arrested and substances suspected to be narcotics were recovered during the operation.

An NDLEA official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the operation, stating that it was part of an ongoing enforcement drive to ensure that nightlife spots in Lagos operate within the bounds of the law.

> “We are targeting places where drug abuse and trafficking thrive. Lagos has seen a rise in night activities that promote illegal drug use, and NDLEA is committed to sanitizing such environments,” the officer stated.

Management of Proxy Night Club has yet to release an official statement as of the time of filing this report. However, unconfirmed reports suggest that the club may remain temporarily closed pending investigation outcomes.

The NDLEA has intensified its nationwide crackdown on narcotics, with recent raids extending to hotels, lounges, and music festivals, as part of a broader strategy to curb the growing menace of substance abuse among Nigerian youths.

Clarion Newschannel Online will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information emerges from NDLEA headquarters.
