NDLEA Uncovers Synthetic Cannabis Lab in Lagos, Arrests Music Artist Over U.S. Drug Shipment

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a clandestine laboratory used for producing Colorado—a potent synthetic strain of cannabis—in a residential building at Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos. The operation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Stephen Kelechi Imoh, the alleged owner of the lab.

Following months of intelligence gathering on the rising local production of “Colos,” NDLEA operatives raided the building on October 30, recovering 16.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colos, 1.7kg of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5kg of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane, all used in drug processing.

The agency revealed that the raid followed earlier interceptions of locally made Colos in Lagos in March and May 2025, suggesting the substance—previously imported—was now being manufactured within the country.

In another Lagos operation, NDLEA officers on November 1 raided the Mushin residence of 28-year-old dealer Afeez Salisu (a.k.a. Malu), seizing 16 blocks of Ghana Loud and designer sachets and bottles of Colorado weighing 16.4kg.

Similarly, a rising music artist, Godspower George Osahenrumwen, popularly known as Steady Boy, was arrested on October 30 after attempting to collect a drug consignment disguised as bathtubs imported from New York.
The shipment, which arrived aboard a DHL flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, contained 140 bags of Loud cannabis weighing 77.2kg. The artist was arrested at Bougain Villa, Lekki, while his manager, Zion Osazee Omigie (a.k.a. Zee Money), remains at large.

NDLEA operations across other states also yielded significant seizures:

Kaduna: 84,710 capsules of Tramadol and 32,946 bottles of Akuskura seized; multiple suspects arrested.

Ogun: Three suspects caught with 1,779kg of skunk after being tracked from Benin Republic.

Kwara: Over 532,600 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 intercepted in Ilorin.

Edo: Two vehicles conveying 1,455kg of skunk intercepted in Uhunmwode LGA.

Ondo: Nearly 3 tonnes of skunk recovered from two suspects, including a 32-year-old woman.

Taraba: Two suspects caught transporting 30,370 Tramadol pills and 177g of methamphetamine to Yola.

Bauchi: 596.4kg of skunk seized in Ningi LGA.

Meanwhile, NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign continued nationwide with sensitization visits to schools, worship centres, and workplaces, including programs in Lagos, Oyo, Sokoto, Jigawa, and Kano States.

Commending the operatives for their sustained efforts, NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to dismantle every identified drug syndicate and ensure that proceeds from the illicit trade are forfeited to the Federal Government.
