The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled a human trafficking and kidnapping syndicate operated by Cameroonian nationals who lured unsuspecting victims to Nigeria under the false pretense of visa processing.
According to a police report, on November 4, 2025, at about 10:30 a.m., operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Eleweran, responded to a distress call from a Cameroonian woman who revealed that she had been deceived into coming to Nigeria on September 29, 2025, by one Donald (male) — a fellow Cameroonian who promised to assist her in obtaining a Canadian visa.
Upon arrival at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, she was received by members of the so-called “agency,” who transported her to Mowe, Ogun State, along with her 23-year-old sister, where they were both held captive.
The victim managed to escape on November 3, 2025, and alerted the police, disclosing that several other victims were being held in a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area of Ogun State. Acting swiftly, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the location and successfully rescued Kengne Maeva (female) unhurt. Two suspects — Ndzana Kamga Isidore (male) and Tingue Stephen (male) — were arrested, while the principal suspect, Donald, remains on the run.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims’ families in Cameroon had already paid 3,600,000 CFA francs into the Cameroonian bank account of the fleeing suspect.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D, directed continuous surveillance of similar criminal networks across the state. He also instructed tactical commanders to strengthen collaboration with community stakeholders and Community Development Association (CDA) leaders, especially in remote areas, to promptly report suspicious foreign nationals renting properties.
The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, pledging that criminal elements will find no safe haven within the state.
