OGUN POLICE DECLARES VIRAL THREAT VIDEOS AGAINST COMMUNITIES, SCHOOLS AS AI-GENERATED FAKE – “No credible intelligence of any planned attack”

Abeokuta – The Ogun State Police Command has declared that viral video clips currently circulating on social media, in which an unidentified person threatens attacks on communities and tertiary institutions in the state, are completely fabricated using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In a press statement issued Wednesday, the Command said its cybercrime and intelligence units conducted a forensic analysis which confirmed that the videos were created by a yet-to-be-identified individual or group and do not emanate from any known terrorist organization or operational cell.
Key findings from the police investigation include:
• The videos were generated using AI by clandestine persons whose identities are still being pursued with “determination and precision”.
• The earliest version of the footage first appeared on a foreign online source approximately three months ago before resurfacing in different forms on various platforms.
• There is currently no credible intelligence indicating any planned attack on Ogun State, its communities, schools, or public institutions.
The Command urged residents to remain calm, refrain from spreading the unverified materials, and continue their lawful activities without fear.
Citizens were also encouraged to promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station.
In response to the development, the Commissioner of Police has directed increased surveillance, enhanced patrols, and sustained inter-agency collaboration across the state.
Reassuring the public, the police declared: “Ogun State remains safe, stable, and fully secured. The Command, in conjunction with other agencies and stakeholders, remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property.”
