OGUN POLICE ROLL OUT COMPREHENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES FOR SAFE 2025 CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

The Ogun State Police Command has deployed comprehensive security operations before, during, and after the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations to guarantee the safety of lives and property across the state.

In a press release, the Command reminded members of the public that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts, and bangers remains in force. According to the Police, the loud sounds produced by these items are often mistaken for gunshots or explosions, thereby causing fear, panic, and unnecessary tension among residents.

To sustain peace and public safety throughout the festive period, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and all tactical units have been directed to intensify patrols and enhance police visibility in residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals, and along major highways. Parents and guardians have also been advised to caution their children and wards against the use of fireworks, as anyone whose actions result in public disturbance, injury, or damage to property will be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police urged residents to celebrate peacefully, obey the law, and cooperate fully with the Police and other security agencies. He assured the public of adequate security throughout the festive season and beyond.

Members of the public are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activities or security concerns through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (General Complaints Line – Toll Free) on 0800 000 9111, and emergency numbers 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.

The statement was signed by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, and dated 15th December, 2025.
