President Tinubu Announces Major Changes in Service Chiefs’ Hierarchy

In a decisive move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved significant changes in the hierarchy of the country’s service chiefs. The latest development underscores the administration’s commitment to improving national security coordination, operational effectiveness, and leadership accountability across the Armed Forces.

According to a statement released by the Presidency, the changes affect key leadership positions within the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force, with new appointments made to enhance synergy among the security agencies. The restructuring is also intended to inject fresh energy into the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry, oil theft, and other forms of insecurity across the nation.

The President commended the outgoing officers for their dedicated service to the nation while charging the newly appointed chiefs to uphold professionalism, integrity, and discipline in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized that the security challenges facing the country require renewed collaboration and innovative strategies to safeguard lives and property.

“The expectations of Nigerians are high, and our service chiefs must deliver results with urgency, commitment, and transparency,” the statement read in part.

Political and security analysts have described the move as timely, especially as the administration intensifies efforts to stabilize the economy, attract foreign investment, and restore citizens’ confidence in government institutions.

The new hierarchy takes immediate effect, with formal handover ceremonies expected to be conducted in the coming days.
