President Tinubu Jets into Lagos for Yuletide Break, Set to Grace Iconic Eyo Festival

Lagos, December 21, 2025 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has touched down in Lagos to kick off his end-of-year holidays, arriving fresh from a whirlwind of official duties in Borno and Bauchi states.
The President landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Saturday, where he was warmly received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials, and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC). A traditional dance troupe added a festive touch to the welcome, signaling the start of the Yuletide season in the nation’s commercial hub.
President Tinubu’s three-state tour began in Maiduguri, Borno State, where he commissioned several infrastructure projects executed by Governor Babagana Zulum in partnership with the Federal Government. During his stay, he also attended the high-society wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, to Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Borno, the President proceeded to Bauchi State for a solemn condolence visit to the government and family of the late renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who passed away on November 27.
Now in Lagos – his home base – President Tinubu is expected to blend rest with a packed schedule of cultural and social engagements. A major highlight will be his role as Guest of Honour at the prestigious Eyo Festival on December 27 at Tafawa Balewa Square. The iconic cultural event will pay tribute to notable Lagosians, including the President’s late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, as well as former governors Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola.
As Nigerians gear up for Christmas and New Year celebrations, the President’s return to Lagos underscores a season of reflection, unity, and festivity amid ongoing national reforms.
