United States Senator Ted Cruz has announced new legislation aimed at making welfare fraud by undocumented immigrants a deportable offence.
According to the senator, billions of dollars in welfare benefits are being fraudulently claimed by individuals residing in the country illegally. He noted that under current U.S. law, such acts are not classified as deportable offences.
Senator Cruz stated that his proposed legislation seeks to change that, emphasizing that anyone who “steals from American taxpayers and is in the country illegally should be deported and permanently barred from reentry”
The proposed bill underscores the senator’s ongoing stance on stricter immigration enforcement and fiscal accountability in the use of public funds.
