President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the newly appointed service chiefs to take decisive action in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges, warning that the nation will no longer tolerate excuses for failure.
Speaking during the formal presentation of the new military leaders at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, President Tinubu urged them to confront emerging threats in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South with urgency and innovation.
In his words:
> “Security threats are constantly evolving, constantly mutating. Of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South. We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head.”
The President emphasized that Nigerians are looking to the new service chiefs for real results, not rhetoric.
> “I charge you, as the heads of our nation’s armed forces, to carry out your duties with patriotic zeal. Nigerians expect results, not excuses,” he said.
President Tinubu also called for a forward-thinking approach, urging the security chiefs to leverage technology and intelligence in staying ahead of those who threaten national peace.
> “Let us deploy technology where necessary. We cannot allow the crisis that began in 2009 to persist any longer,” he added.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national security, Tinubu assured the officers of full presidential support to enable them to deliver on their mandate.
> “I wish you success as you take up the challenge. I promise to provide all the support you need to get the job done,” the President concluded.
The President’s remarks come amid heightened concerns over emerging armed groups and renewed attacks in parts of the country. The new service chiefs are expected to implement fresh strategies aimed at restoring peace and public confidence in Nigeria’s security architecture.
