NAFDAC Raises Alarm Over Circulation of Counterfeit Cialis 20mg Tablets in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert on the distribution and sale of counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets currently circulating in Nigerian markets.

According to Chi Pharmaceutical Ltd, the Marketing Authorisation Holder (MAH) for Cialis 20mg film-coated tablets (Registration No: 04-5196), the fake version was discovered during routine market surveillance by its field sales representatives in Abuja.

Investigations revealed that the counterfeit tablets are being sold openly in some markets for about ₦8,000 per pack, compared to the genuine product, which retails at approximately ₦55,000 per pack. Further inspection also showed significant differences between counterfeit and authentic packaging, as well as in product quality standards.

Cialis 20mg (active ingredient: tadalafil) is a medication used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

NAFDAC is urging healthcare professionals and members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected sale or distribution .
